Fourteen

She left weightlessness through her. She slowly opened her eyes and saw an exploded star split across a dark blue sky. Shooting stars danced above her. She forgot how she got here, wherever here was. Her fingers ran over the ground. The softest grass that burst with a fresh scent with every touch. Primrose sat up. Her mind tried to wander but could not come up with many theories as to how she got here, no matter how hard she thought. She rose to her feet. With her movement specks of golden light rose from the grass like fireflies that blazed bright against the dark sky. She looked to the horizon and saw light blue smoke. She felt drawn to it and started to walk through the field to see where it was coming from. As she got closer she saw that the light blue smoke was coming from a small fire which burned many shades of blue as the flames swayed freely. The smoke that left the flames was moving in a circular fashion as high as Primrose’s eyes could see. There was one chopped piece of wood, sitting up to be used as a seat. She sat on it and as she did the fire grew in front of her. She was not frightened by it but instead, she felt a calm wave wash over her. Through the cracks of the flames, there seemed to be a figure on the other side of it. But Primrose had just come from that direction and she didn’t see any creatures or demons or even humans here before. She tried to look around the fire to see if she could make out what was there but nothing. Primrose put her face as close as she could to the fire and strangely she felt no heat from it. She dared to put her hand in, something she would never do usually but then this place wasn’t her usual. Her hand felt the flames as the tickled her. She smiled as the flames danced around her hand, up her arm and made her hair fly. “Primrose,” a soft feminine voice called out.

Primrose shot her hand back from the fire, afraid of getting into trouble. She looked around but could not see where the voice came from. Primrose once again looked into the flames and saw the figure from before but now with a lot more clarity. The figure seemed to have a veil covering their face. They did not seem to have a lower body as they grew in the flames that surrounded them. “Hello?” Primrose said. The figure grew with the flames to be the same size as Primrose who hadn’t left the log. Primrose still did not feel fear or when she thought about it she didn’t feel much of anything. “Sorry but where am I?” She asked politely. “What is your last memory?” The fire asked. Primrose searched her mind but everything seemed to be covered in a kind of fog.
